Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 05, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Pixloo ("we," "our," or "us"). We provide an AI-powered storytelling tool designed for Parents and Guardians to create personalized stories for their children.

Important for Parents: This Privacy Policy applies to your use of the Pixloo mobile application and website. Pixloo is a tool designed for parents to create stories for their children. While the app features are designed for kids, the legal account must be created and managed by an adult (18+). We have strict policies in place to protect the privacy of children.

2. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)

Pixloo does not collect personal profiles of children.

The account holder must represent that they are 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect, store, or share distinct personal information (PII) of children under 13.

We do not sell data to third parties or use it for advertising.

  • No Child Profiles: We do not create persistent user profiles for children. Any names or ages entered into the story generator are treated as unstructured text prompts solely for the purpose of generating a single story and are not stored as verified identity records.
  • Secure Image Processing: Parents may choose to upload photos of themselves or their children to serve as inspiration for storybook characters. These images are processed securely, are never shared publicly, and are never used to train AI models.
  • Parental Supervision: Any interaction a child has with the app (e.g., reading a story) must be under the direct supervision of the parent account holder.

3. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide our storytelling service:

A. Information You Provide (as a Parent)

We use your data (photos, voice) solely to generate stories and avatars.

  • Account Data: Your email address and name (used for authentication and account management).
  • Story Inputs: Text prompts, selected art styles, and preferences used to generate stories. We do not link names entered in story prompts to real-world identities or external databases.
  • Uploaded Images: Images you upload for story inspiration (e.g., a photo of a toy, pet, or family member). These images are securely stored in your private account and transiently processed by AI to create stylized storybook characters.
  • Payment Information: We do not collect or store your credit card or financial information. All payment transactions are handled entirely by Apple or Google.

B. Device Permissions

To provide specific features, we request access to the following device capabilities. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.

  • Camera: To take photos for your profile or story inspiration.
  • Photo Library: To select existing images for upload.
  • Microphone: Strictly for the "Voice Dictation" feature to transcribe your speech into text. The app only accesses the microphone when the user explicitly taps the 'Record' button, and an on-screen indicator is visible during the entire duration of use. Audio is processed temporarily and not stored.
  • Notifications: To send you story completion alerts and daily creative reminders.

D. Consumption Data for Refunds

To assist Apple in processing refund requests, we may share data regarding your usage and consumption of purchased content with Apple. This information helps Apple make informed decisions regarding refunds and is shared only when you initiate a refund request or as part of our automated refund handling process via RevenueCat.

E. Automatically Collected Data

  • Device Information: This information may be derived from IP address and is not used for precise location tracking.
  • Usage Logs: Interaction data to help us improve app stability and fix bugs.

4. Your Rights & Choices

  • Access & Correction: You may access or update your account profile details directly within the App settings.
  • Data Deletion: You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time via the "Delete Account" option in Settings. This action is permanent.
  • Region-Specific Rights (CCPA / GDPR):
    • California Residents: You have the right to know what personal information we collect and request deletion. Pixloo does not sell your personal information.
    • EU/UK Users: You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data under GDPR. Please contact us directly for any assistance.

5. How We Use Voice & Image Features

Voice Story (Transcription Only)

The "Voice Story" feature is an accessibility tool designed to convert your spoken words into text prompts.

  • Ephemeral Processing: Audio recordings are sent to our transcription provider solely for conversion to text.
  • No Storage: We do not permanently store your voice recordings. Once the text is transcribed, the audio file is discarded.

Image Uploads

You may upload images to inspire stories (e.g., "Write a story about this teddy bear").

  • Character Creation: Uploaded images are transiently analyzed by AI to extract physical traits (e.g., hair color, clothing) so the AI can generate a stylized, cartoon-like character for your story.
  • Privacy Guarantee: Your uploaded images are stored securely in your private account and are never used to train third-party AI models.
  • Auto-Deletion (Data Minimization): To maximize privacy, any reference photos you upload are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers within 48 hours.

6. Third-Party Services & AI Providers

To provide our AI storytelling service, we must share specific user inputs (text prompts, uploaded images, voice recordings) with third-party artificial intelligence providers. We share only the data necessary to generate your requested content.

A. Our AI Providers

1. Google (Gemini)

Primary Provider for Story Text, Illustrations, and Voice Transcription.

  • Data Shared: Text prompts, image uploads (for analysis), and audio files (for transcription).
  • Privacy & Training: We use the paid API level. Google does not use your data to train their AI models. Data is processed transiently and is not stored permanently.

2. Groq

Fallback Provider for Story Text.

  • Data Shared: Text prompts and story configuration parameters.
  • Privacy & Training: Groq does not use customer data for model training. Inference data is processing transiently (ephemeral) and is not retained.

3. Pollinations.ai

Fallback Provider for Illustrations.

  • Data Shared: Image generation prompts.
  • Privacy & Training: Pollinations.ai processes requests transiently in-memory. They do not use user inputs for model training without explicit consent.

B. Infrastructure & Analytics

  • Supabase: Secure database hosting and user authentication.
  • Sentry: Crash reporting and performance monitoring (bugs/crashes only).
  • RevenueCat: Managing subscriptions and payment status.
  • Apple & Google: For Sign-In (Authentication) and Payments.
  • Vercel: Website hosting and web performance analytics.
  • Expo: Delivering app updates and notifications.

7. Data Security & Retention

We employ industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, to protect your information. However, no internet service is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

Data Retention: We retain account data only as long as necessary to provide the service or comply with legal obligations. As part of our commitment to data minimization, reference images uploaded for character creation are automatically deleted within 48 hours.

8. Your Rights & Deletion

You retain full ownership of your data. You may delete your account and all associated data (stories, images, prompts) at any time directly within the app:

Settings → Account → Delete Account

Upon deletion, your data is permanently removed from our active databases.

9. "As Is" Service

Pixloo is provided by an independent developer on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. While we strive for excellence, we make no warranties regarding the availability, accuracy, or specific results of the service.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
